Runway Meets the Road: Volvo Transforms Silver Hill Studio into a Swedish Fashion Fika

When Volvo Cars USA and designer Sergio Hudson came together to celebrate the launch of their limited-edition fashion collection, they chose Charleston’s Silver Hill Studio as the creative stage.

The multi-day event — styled as a Swedish “Fashion Fika” — brought together fashion, design, and automotive culture under one roof. The collaboration spotlighted Hudson’s refined craftsmanship and Volvo’s commitment to sustainable materials, transforming Silver Hill Studio into a dynamic, Scandinavian-inspired environment where guests could experience both the artistry of couture and the innovation of modern design.

Over the course of the event, national media, tastemakers, and creators explored a series of immersive spaces that celebrated connection, creativity, and the spirit of collaboration in South Carolina.

“The venue was the perfect blank canvas — beautiful, versatile, and with vehicle access that made it ideal for our event. The Silver Hill team went above and beyond from start to finish.”
Kelly Collins, Content & Creative Production, Volvo Car USA

A Studio Transformed

Our 3,000-square-foot studio was reimagined as a Swedish “Fashion Fika” — a modern take on the classic Scandinavian coffee gathering — where guests from across the U.S. explored the intersection of fashion, art, and automotive design.

Inside, Volvo and event producers crafted multiple immersive spaces:

  • A coffee-shop-style entrance welcoming guests into the fika

  • A custom DJ booth featuring Sirius XM’s Rachel Steele

  • An intimate fashion presentation and panel discussion with designer Sergio Hudson

  • A dinner setting that combined elegance and minimal Scandinavian design — with enough space to feature the fully electric Volvo EX90 as a design centerpiece

Behind the Scenes

While guests connected over design and culture, our production infrastructure kept the event flowing seamlessly. The full-service kitchen powered multi-day catering, while the spacious back-of-house areas were transformed into prep spaces for models, hair, and makeup teams. Every inch of the studio worked to support the creative vision — a hallmark of what Silver Hill was built to do.

Celebrating South Carolina Creativity

This collaboration marked more than a milestone for Volvo — it celebrated homegrown South Carolina talent. Designer Sergio Hudson, a Columbia native, partnered with Volvo to create a limited-edition fashion collection inspired by the EX90’s responsibly sourced cabin materials.

The capsule line includes a tailored wool-blend car coat and the Nordico in Dawn belt, each echoing Volvo’s commitment to sustainability, refinement, and thoughtful design.
